Library Journal
Marsh has created a guide to carving roses, hibiscuses, and morning glories that are strikingly true to life (a carved blue morning glory on the cover is a near perfect match for one in this reviewer's garden). She offers step-by-step instructions, using a rotary carving tool for most operations. This book stands out because of its beautiful color photographs and its excellent painting guidelines. Even relatively inexperienced carvers should enjoy success with this title. The carvings are attractive by themselves or could be components for decorative displays with driftwood or other natural materials. This appealing book is perfect for woodcarvers and those interested in decorative arts. Recommended for all public libraries.
