Wooden blanks are available in most craft or woodworking stores or through online retailers. After a couple of in-depth projects to teach technique, tool use, and painting, Dickie highlights 46 projects depicting animals, human characters, holiday-related items, and fantasy figures. VERDICT This very specific collection of projects will appeal to beginning to intermediate woodcarvers looking for imaginative patterns. While some seem to become one-note after a while, there are plenty of patterns to use.
