Shawn Cipa began carving in 1993 after his wife, Joanne, bought him a small set of palm tools for Christmas. Already possessing a solid background in art, Shawn found that woodcarving quickly became a driving passion in his life. He is the author of Wood Spirits and Green Men, Carving Folk Art Figures and Woodcarving the Nativity, all three books are available from Fox Chapel Publishing.
