Peter Ortel grew up in New York City and made his career as a New York City fireman. Since his retirement, he has devoted himself to caricature carving. He has won "Best of Show" honors in the Affiliated International Woodcarver's competition - a first for caricature carvers. Peter has served as president of the Caricature Carvers of America and is a much sought after instructor of woodcarving.
