New Work to Follow from Lori Corbett
East Petersburg, PA. Lori Corbett gave woodcarver’s everywhere a seat at her workbench in St Anthony, Idaho, when she wrote Carving Award-Winning Songbirds. Her book, published by Fox Chapel in Spring, 2005, became a top-selling title in the woodcarving community and can be found in all major bookstore chains, online booksellers and in specialty retail stores.
Lori writes, “As a child, I knew I could fly if I could only convince the birds to tell me how. I spent hours making paper wings and tails, running and jumping, hoping to become airborne.” Those hours spent watching and loving birds are evident in Carving Award-Winning Songbirds. Lori Corbett is one of the most respected names in songbird carving and her book shares the knowledge and techniques that have brought acclaim for her songbird carvings in national competitions. Lori’s most recent award was 2nd place in the Open Miniature Songbirds & 3rd Best of Show Open Miniature Wildfowl at the Decoy & Wildfowl Carvers Association (DWCA) show in Riverside, CA in 2005.
Now Lori Corbett is working cooperatively on two additional books with Fox Chapel to be published in the Spring, 2006. Written by forensic artist, Denny Rodgers, these books are The Illustrated Bald Eagle and The Illustrated Owl: Barn, Barred and Great Horned. Lori will provide the paint patterns for these reference guides described as “the ultimate guide for bird lovers, woodcarvers and artists.”
