About the Author

Martha Preston was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Her interest in patchwork and quilting was aroused when she unearthed a red and white pinwheel quilt belonging to her grandmother. She completed Part 1 of her City and Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting in 1995 and has been an avid quilt maker ever since. She specializes in hand-quilting and especially admires the designs of the Welsh, Durham, and Amish communities.
